Its been three years since we decided to commit ourselves to each other. Sometimes I am amazed at how well we get along, with our very different personalities.
But at the same time, it is our personalities are which complements each other – Your patience, kindness and rationality. My spontaneity, drive and resilience. I believe that we are good for each other. And it has been a beautiful journey since the start.
And I love you very much. And I cannot wait to see you this Saturday 🙂
Ti amo tanto tanto tanto. Aku cinta kamu sepenuh hati.
I’m really loving vimeo heaps. I’ve never seen a better quality video streaming sharing site before.
When I started using youtube in late 2005, I thought that that was the bomb. Having used to have to download large video files and had to wait a long time to download the clips we wanted, youtube was rather revolutionary.
Thus the start of this year, when I got my 2GB SD card and my logitech webcam, I started to be an avid videoblogger. I’ve been pretty much satisfied wth youtube. So far I have over 60 video clips in there, which is not bad 🙂
So when Moby mentioned that he liked vimeo so much that he was going to abandon his youtube account, I just had to sign up just to see what it was like for myself. The first time I went there, the website was bonkers, I had problem uploading videos, couldnt edit my profile, and when I uploaded a video, I couldn’t view them!
I found out later that the site was undergoing some bugs and was relatively stable and decided to give them a try again.
Vimeo has a very cute uploading interface :
Vimeo even tells you how long it will take to convert your video :
My gosh, its much sharper and clearer that I was just stunned. For a streaming video site, this is very impressive.
One of the things that I like about Vimeo is that unlike other sites, it has a forum that allows you to ask questions from the staff or the community directly. Vimeo doesn’t seem to be as active as youtube, judging from the amount of comments in the forum – which could be a good thing, as I had countless of juvenile comments from youtube.
One thing that I dont fancy about Vimeo though, is the length of time to take to upload it. Typically, a video of about 50 mb would take about 45 mins to an hour to be uploaded and ready to be viewed. But at the same time, it could be due to Starhub’s uploading speed (which is a huge pet peeve for Singaporean videobloggers like me)
Currently, Vimeo also has a weekly 500 mb limit which is relatively unheard of in a video sharing website. But on the flipside, it makes people think twice on uploading the videos that is really important to them.
Moreoever with the advanced settings, I could replace a video, without having to delete the erring video and start all over again. This feature, I really like. I can also pick from a generous 12 thumbnails from the movie stills so that I could prevent embarassing opening pictures like this :
To this :
Also, Vimeo has no embedded logos or ads on their clips, which I find very refreshing. Next year, Youtube is starting a 10 sec advertisment prior to the video, which I find very intrusive. I can’t wait to port all my videos in Vimeo, which coincidentally, you could download the original video format too!
I cant right now for the moment because I’ve used up all my 500 mb. Now I have to wait a while for the upload limit to be refreshed.
Updated : Comiqs is no longer available, but why not give Bitstrips and Pixton a try?
If you like comic life, you will love comiqs
During the ping.sg tshirt launch, I had the fortune of meeting Jarius and Michael. They did a demo of comiqs.com which I was quite excited about.
Having played with Comic life in the middle of the year, I saw the similarities between these two programs. Using very little time, users are able to create comics like these :
But the additional nice feature about comiqs is that everything is done completely online, has a high resolution of 400 which is wonderful for printing, has multi-pages and multi-panels, can be embedded directly to blogs, integrates with online galleries like flickr and is completely free.
Jarius also tells me that Comiqs is being supported by The Singapore MDA, so you know it’s good. Unfortunately, Comiqs is currently in closed beta, but do sign up for an invitation for their beta and hope that these awesome guys starts their open beta soon 🙂
Ping.sg, the blog community that I am a member of, launched their official T-Shirt, graced by about 50 ping members at Essential Brew last monday night.
It was cold and drizzling on my way to Holland Village due to the monsoon season that we are having here in Singapore. I had no problems getting here as I’ve already been to Essential Brew before. Due to my weekly yoga session, I arrived about an hour after the start of the event.
When I went up the stairs, I could already hear the extremely lively chatter and cheering. Momentarily I was a little stunned from the camera flash as well as the amount of people there. It was a large gathering indeed!
One of the first persons that I saw there was Princessa who was standing in front of me to greet me, as well as Nadia who was ever ready to point her camera to shoot. I went off to have a seat with Nadia and Edroos, whom I met for the first time.
Edroos, Nadia and Uzyn
By the way, Edroos was the winner for the Ping.sg tshirt design contest. Dont the tshirt look great? Congratulations Ed!
Soonafter, the organizers were in the middle of the lucky draw presentation. I moved to the centre to take a quick video of the winners. As I was late, quickly I confirmed with Daphne, who was one of the organizers, if my name was in the lucky draw box and she handed me a 2 of spades card. Huh? What was I supposed to do with this?
But no sooner as I held the card, I heard Ebie call out, “The two of spades!” I was completely floored. Oh that’s me? I won? Wow! Awesome!
I just grinned from ear to ear. This was similar to the situation with Daphne and me at the Phillips lucky draw. I won a VIP membership to Essential Brew! If you’re going there, bring me too, I can give you discounts 😉 Hehehehe
I’d like to bring Cartcart when he comes here in about a week’s time, especially for the wonderful desserts which I completely adore. Especially the Ice Cream Bombe, which is sadly taken off the menu due to the lack of hazelnut ice cream. Ebie says that he’s still thinking of what ice cream he should use as replacement.
Here’s a video of us devouring the ice cream bombe in our last visit.
Ah Wei surrounded by loads of hot girls!
Later on, Uzyn pulled out a couple of members to introduce themselves. I saw a number of new faces like Mkpadnama, Ahwei, MissCel, as well as a few that I’ve always wanted to meet like Felixker and Simplyjean.
There were definitely loads of eye candy to be seen. It’s just too bad for the people who didn’t come 😛
Who ever said that bloggers arent attractive people? 🙂
I tucked in to have my dinner of Macha Catch. It tasted so good to a famished woman. But I should have savoured it slower so that I could detect the green tea crush in my dory fish. I was just too greedy. But I did enjoy it enough to taste the sweetness of the honey sauce with the yummy grilled fish.
I was just about to drink my lemon tea when Adam corralled us up for a group photo and the photo taking session continued till the end of the event. What can I say? It’s typical for a Singaporean bloggers outing to be filled with photo taking sessions.
Chillicraps and Sylvdoanx fights using plastic hammer after their first battle during the Ping anniversary in July.
What a spectacularly lovely evening. Thank you organizers! I met loads of nice people and had a most enjoyable time. I’m sure that the others did too 🙂
At this time of writing there are still many sites that hosts the pages of people whom has passed away – for example friendster and myspace. It can be heart wrenching to the messages that they posted while they are still alive.
While we are still around, there are some of the things that we could do. Darren Rowse advices on creating a blog will. Afterlife.org, a non profit organization will help to archive your webpage.
For me, I guess I’ll write a blog will, to include passwords and instructions like how to do backup and think of whether to keep the domain or have it transported to a free host.
If you are a blogger yourself, what would you do? If you are a blog reader, would you care for the blog to be preserved? What do you think?
I was invited by Sabrina to a bloggers gathering recently hosted by Philips who were doing a presentation on their Ambilight and Ambisound Experience.
It was hosted in Curduroy Cafe which I thought was a charming looking place overlooking the sea. Despite some of the reviews I’ve read online, the service Curduroy Cafe was lovely. They were quick to whip up a vegetarian meal for me when they found out that I couldn’t eat the meat products there.
It’s always nice to meet new friends and some of the bloggers I met were actually rather nice. I am amazed that Jayden and I hit it off quite well 🙂
I had a lot of fun playing with the demo products. The Ambilight and Ambisound was really cool. I’d get one if I have the moolah. Wished that we had more time to play with them though as I was still fiddling around with the controls when they were announcing the last event.
Doesn’t my chicken chop and spaghetti look yummy? I love it and want to go there again!
About 6 months ago, after reading the chicken chop and spaghetti post by Sha, I was really tempted and raring to visit the canteen at NIE. But the first time I tried to go there I mistook NIE for NTU and I rode all around the campus wondering where the place was. In the end, I gave up.
I had a craving for western food again lately and I remembered about Sha’s recommendation. So, I went there again recently this week. Once I knew the bearings, it wasn’t that difficult to go there. Exit from the PIE expressway to Jalan Bahar, enter NTU and at the welcome sign, turn right to Nanyang Crescent and head all the way to carpark 4.
All around your journey, you’ll be accompanied by this cool pirate like sign.
What I like about the surrounding area was the amount of greenery here. When I parked my scooter, I could see so much trees as far as the eyes can see. It was so serene.
When I entered the canteen, it was quite full with the lunch crowd. I spotted the western food stall already crowded with a number of people queuing up. Having already decided what I wanted to eat, I queued up for my food, made my order and got my food shortly after.
I love my Chicken Chop! The gravy was delightfully savoury and the chicken meat itself is freshly cooked and was so juicy. The mashed potato was so smooth and was such a delight to eat. The spaghetti wasn’t the best that I had, but it was still pretty good. There was a generous amount of basil and a good amount of meat on my pasta. Best thing of all is that it costs only $3.80!
Actually this was my second visit in a span of one week. Earlier this week, I had the grilled fish and butter rice ($3.50). It was pretty good, with the fish being hot and crispy when I had it. The meat was nice, flaky and quite delicious. I didn’t really fancy the rice but it was not bad 🙂
I’m still thinking about my meal there and want to eat there again. If you’re anywhere in the west, join me there the next time? 🙂
Congratulations to Tech65 on their 50th podcast! And here’s to many more to come 🙂

Tech65 is a weekly based podcast which focuses on technology in a Singaporean point of view.
I knew about tech65 when NTT, introduced the podcast to me and asked me to have a listen. And at the first listen, I was impressed by how effortlessly natural they were bantering with each other. Even though I am not up to their level of technophilia, these guys are easy to listen to.
One of my favourite episodes was when the tech65 crew were live blogging at the launch of the new Creative Zen and they managed to aquire a unit to review.
When the tech65 invited listeners to a live recording in liew of of their 50th episode, I couldn’t help but to join in. I’ve always wanted to see the behind the scenes.
I saw a camera being set up for the live video stream, NTT’s awesome H4 audio recorder and everyone else ready with their laptops maximizing the internet connection at Geek Terminal as they started their podcast.
Despite interruptions such as construction works all around the cafe, it was interesting to sit in and watch the recording live.
Last friday, I hanged out with my friend Mus, who invited me a Klenengan, which I found out later, is actually and Indonesian Gamelan music.
It was a very cooling evening when I reached the faculty of the arts and social science in NUS, with no difficulty, I was able to find the gamelan room (which is surprising as I get lost easily) and I said hello to the friendly people in the group who were coincidentally having their break.
I then saw Mus, who looked genuinely surprised to see me (hehehe) and he showed me around and the different types of instruments. Many of them looked like xylophones. I was curious to see that there were different types of hammers used to hit the instruments – I noticed at least 4 different types. I’m sure that this effects the resonance and sound.
They group started their practice session and I find myself fascinated while listening to the hypnotic sounds as they hammered away happily on their gamelan. Sitting in the middle of the room, it was an experience to not only hear the sounds but to also feel the sound. This was something new to me!
The gamelan, in particular, the selemtem, which looked like a xylophone didnt looked too difficult to play. Mus explained that each panel was actually a number from 1 – 7 and you hit the panel according to the score. It was much easier to understand if compared to a piano.
It was so much fun! I was tempted to hammer the selemtem myself if not for the fact that I’d probably be disturbing the others.
Cant wait for the next session. Mus! Quick! When is the next one?
