I remember my wife encouraging me to use an umbrella in the Philippines shortly after we first met. I had the same reaction as Cart in this comic.
In New York City, I only ever see Asians carrying umbrellas in the sun. Asians born here often don’t, because the culture promotes looking tanned. But, wasn’t it a British thing for ladies to carry parasols? Or French?
