Happy National Day Singapore!

Rinaz wishes happy Singapore National Day!
Me at the picturesque Gianicolo in Rome. You could see heaps of monuments from here

Spent the evening with Lynn, aย Singaporean living in Rome and two lovely Singaporean ladies who migrated to Germany and came to Rome on a whim.

We roamed around Rome and had loads of laughs together. Never imagined I’d ever spend national day this way. But it was such a good day

  1. Lucky you, still can find some Singaporeans. I had been staying in places where Singaporean were hard to come by. Made me think I was the only ONE there.

  2. Hehe! i have been the only Singaporean in my area too for 6 years, this year, another moved nearby! we and the spouses had a nice curry and prata (frozen) dinner together in honour of National Day! it was quite the spur of the moment thing, but I am glad we did it!

  3. Hi gal!!

I think that’s the power of the internet. I was lucky because there were a number of overseas Singaporeans who were very networked and in no time at all, I found several Singaporeans in Italy.

We formed a facebook group and its growing nicely ๐Ÿ™‚

Internet is awesum! I bet you’d find the same thing too for sure the next time you live overseas ๐Ÿ™‚

Some years ago, I would never have thought that I’d spend National day this way … hahaha … I wonder what will happen next year … maybe we’ll have our own unofficial Singapore Day in Rome!

  5. Nicely done Rinaz. I’m glad you were able to find some people from your home country to celebrate your national day with, so you didn’t feel so far from home. I kinda miss celebrating American holidays.

I’m pretty sure that there is a large network of Americans in Singapore. Maybe you might want to take a look at that and do a get together just for the fun of it? ๐Ÿ™‚

National day is one thing. The thought of not spending Hari Raya with my family when we’ve been doing that every year is another thing. Nothing can replace family.

    *thoughtful look*
